    LA LUNA E LE STELLE began in august 2004, when mike "moogtron" hewetson began travelling over to slepe farm in the purbecks to visit "professor" paul owen. the initial music was just pure improvisation using 4 or 5 synths. also featuring guest player - "natural" john mcgowan (flautist with MANIKIN TIMESHARK -mike's prog band) -in 2010 LA LUNA played the 1st live performances, and have continued for 9 yrs now. Recording continued at 2 other studios, and in feb 2016....mike set up the "magic roundabout " studio at his home in boscombe/bournemouth. the music has developed alot over 15 yrs, and now we use up to 15 keyboards whilst recording....mainly improvised ambient classical synth music, with a main theme throughout a piece. influences- vangelis/tomita/ j.m. jarre/robert jo

6 TRACKS. of which, "mysterium cosmagraphicum" is the first piece. this is a good example of la luna's music, -It employs many chord changes within. Mike is, as always inspired by long walks out in the new forest and by the sea. the inspiration flowed well on the day "mysterium cosmagraphicum" was layed down in may 2019. filled with lots of minor chords, hence the melancholic/sad feelings within. professor paul owen fills out the "space" aspects here, enhancing the music. the whole piece was improvised, and stems from an original theme, mike evolved that very day. "sun song" and "autumn tides" are piano based songs, mike composed and recorded especialy for this set. there is alot of emotion on these 2 tracks. "atom heart luna" was based on floyd's "atom heart mother" as you might guess, and has a middle eight section with pure improvisation. mike also plays drums and bass guitar on this one. "attack of the acid fighters" is alot more extreme, and is crammed with manic synth improv, with a sequenced rhythm. and "lost continents" is very typical of la luna, as it is mainly improvised and takes the lister on an ambient/classical journey.
