2 more long epics, recorded back in october 2020, and probably 2 of the very best tracks we've recorded live in the studio over the last few years. part 1 was inspired by the genesis track "mad man moon" , as the chord sequence shows, although i adapted and modified tony banks's composition to suit la luna. it has an overall pleasant and emotional feel overall, leading into part 2, which really is the deepest void of space we've visited! paul's yamaha jx really comes to the fore with massive delays for the synth fx, whilst i used plenty of mellotron and a huge amount of chord changes for alot of variance of emotions. it's very descriptional of "astral dimensions", where space reveals the "celestial spheres" ......overall, 2 great pieces, considering nearly all the music was improvised, other than the main themes for the tracks, we did really well on these 2! La luna was established in 2004, when mike hewetson began recording sessions with paul owen at slepe farm in the purbecks. all improvised music , based on JMJ/VANGELIS/ENO/TOMITA/THE ORB., but by 2010, mike was composing alot more. la luna have played live alot since 2010 to 2019. the mellotron is featured heavily along with many analogue synths and sound fx. 100's of discs have been recorded . ... more
